MEET THE JOURNEY BEYOND TEAM

The Journey Beyond offers immersive photography experiences designed to slow you down, spark curiosity, and foster meaningful connection—with people, place, and the present moment. Co-founded by photographers with a shared love of storytelling and cultural exploration, our journeys are shaped by a belief in travel that deepens rather than rushes—where presence matters more than performance. We are a small team who bring different strengths, perspectives, and creative approaches to each journey.

    LYNN FRASER

Lynn is a Scottish Highlands–based photographer and writer whose work explores human connection, fleeting moments, and the quiet poetry of everyday life. Her travels have taken her across India, Mongolia, Ethiopia, South Sudan and beyond, seeking out stories in marketplaces, backstreets, festivals, and quiet, everyday spaces.

She shares these stories through My Journey with a Camera, her Substack publication that blends photography with narrative essays, reflections, and vignettes. It’s a space where visual storytelling meets thoughtful observation, drawing readers into moments of stillness and connection.

Lynn’s work has been exhibited internationally as part of the Atlas of Humanity project, with group shows in Paris, Milan, and London.

In 2025, she was named Amateur Photographer of the Year 2024 by Amateur Photographer magazine.

She co-founded The Journey Beyond to offer immersive travel experiences rooted in presence, storytelling, and cultural exchange. Her approach is intuitive and people-centred, inviting participants to slow down, look closer, and connect deeply with the world around them.

    NEALE JAMES

Neale James is a Berkshire-based photographer, broadcaster, and writer whose work weaves together a lifelong love of storytelling, sound, and still imagery. Known for his emotionally honest approach to social documentary photography, for twenty years, he has photographed everything from milestone moments and everyday rituals to, more recently, faraway corners of the world.

With a career that began in BBC Radio, Neale has travelled widely, using both mic and camera to connect with people and place.

For radio, he produced documentaries about the French Revolution, the talk radio evolution of America and travelled on tour with bands like Aerosmith.

In 2020, during the pandemic, Neale launched The Photowalk podcast, and in his growing collection of stories and essays across nearly 500 episodes, he explores not just how we photograph and create, but why.

He co-founded The Journey Beyond to bring together his passions for photography, radio, and meaningful travel. With a background in broadcasting and a love of storytelling, he creates experiences that blend sound, image, and place, inviting guests to walk with curiosity, listen more closely, and see the world through a more thoughtful, human lens.
